Sunsets are soothing to me...no two are alike but they are always beautiful.
Jackie, well done - you arrived here. Thanks for your voice for your choice.
Both of these are marvelous. The color of the sky is gorgeous and the reflections in the canal are perfect.
George, Thank you for your great comments, I have difficulty picking one from the other.
Hi Stewart - you asked for a bit of a critique...I think the top one is much more appealing - there's more interest to hold the attention. The lead-in to the tree provided by the canal is unbroken (with the other one there is a big blob of dark breaking it up) and it has an interesting wiggle, pulling the eye further in.We can see bull-rushes and other silhouetted bank vegetation, drawing our eye through the scene, and a reflection of a tree that balances the silhouetted one on the horizon. Finally, the top one benefits more from rule-of-thirds aspects and overall is more balanced as a result. If you really want to continue your improvement, I think you're ready for somewhere like thestudio-online.co.uk where you will get the constructive critique and encouragement that will take you to the next level. That's the place that helped me up (thanks Barrie, John, Silversnapper et al).
